At the end of my last posting I quoted an old friend who, when turning 22 said, "I'm no longer invincible."
... and on that note ...
Last night a newbie put me in a body triangle from guard and squeezed the hell out of my back. Two months of physical therapy out the window.
Today's lessons:
1. You can NEVER stop doing your physical therapy exercises, no matter how much you feel like 110%. Now it's back to the drawing board with stretching and strengthening my back.
2. There is no reason to EVER let someone close their guard if you can help it. I've forgotten that there is a difference between playing around with someone who is experienced, allowing them to work different positions, and allowing a cowboy-esque newbie squeeze your spine. At least there were no broken ribs involved.
3. Don't over train! I trained TOO much this week (especially Wednesday). Time for a few days rest and recuperation.

I feel like I semi-know you because we both read/comment on Val's blog, so I thought I should finally say hello. First, congrats on moving to Pennsylvania. Sharon kicks all kinds of ass. And, since you're going to be in/near Philly, there is a really good chance that we'll get to actually meet for real sometime soon. I'm up there a few times a year for BJJ tournaments/training/hanging out. I'm already looking forward to it (even if you think I'm a weirdo stalker now).
